To ensure smooth and efficient operations of HWB, all HWPs and various projects undertaken by HWB.

Planning, execution and review of various Project Schemes, R & D activities and other technical/ collaboration matters of the unit.

To consider and recommend for Government approval the Five Year Plan, Annual Plans and independent projects / schemes of the Unit, keeping in view the general / specific guidelines of the Government / Planning Commission in this regard.

To consider and recommend for Government approval the Annual Budget estimates and revised estimates of the Unit.

To recommend / approve the major proposals for award of contracts, purchase of equipment / machinery / material / supplies and consultancies.

To recommend / approve proposals for pricing of Heavy Water and other products / services offered by the Unit.

To recommend / approve the proposals for recruitment / promotions of Scientific & Administrative staff.

- Development of energy efficient and eco friendly technologies for other isotope separation and for aiding heavy water production program in HWPs and promoting exploitation of spin-off technologies in Indian chemical process industry.
- Providing co-ordination to R&D projects in the areas of extractants / solvents (if required solvent extraction processes) used in the front end and back end of nuclear fuel cycle and converting the Lab/Bench Scale synthesis in to industrial scale technologies for meeting DAE/non DAE requirements.
- Identification of areas of sponsored/collaborative R&D projects and also providing coordinatorship with responsibilities to shape/monitor inter disciplinary activities related to HWPs/HWB within DAE Units and outside agencies.
- Identification of other opportunities including alternate use of Heavy Water and sabbatical arrangements for advanced research / development.

- To plan, procure, install, commission and maintain various computer & communication facilities at HWB (C.O) and various intra/inter site communication systems.
- Development of application software required by various users of HWB & HWPs either using in-house resources or through a third party.
- Maintenance and management of IT security at C.O and advice various HWPs for the same.
- Co-ordination with various agencies for of HWB's hosting website and related email accounts.
